Running Head: MODELS AND STRATEGIES FOR FMA 1 Models and strategies for factor mixture analysis: Two examples concerning the structure underlying psychological disorders

چکیده
The factor mixture model (FMM) uses a hybrid of both categorical and continuous latent variables. The FMM is a good model for the underlying structure of psychopathology because the use of both categorical and continuous latent variables allows the structure to be simultaneously categorical and dimensional. While the conceptualization of the FMM has been explained in the literature, the use of the FMM is still not prevalent. One reason is that there is little research about how such models should be applied in practice and, once a well fitting model is obtained, how it should be interpreted. In this paper, the FMM will be explored by studying two real data examples: conduct disorder and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. By exploring these examples, this paper aims to explain the different formulations of the FMM, the various steps in building a FMM, as well as how to decide between a FMM and alternative

Potentials of Evolving Linear Models in Tracking Control Design for Nonlinear Variable Structure Systems
Evolving models have found applications in many real world systems. In this paper, potentials of the Evolving Linear Models (ELMs) in tracking control design for nonlinear variable structure systems are introduced. At first, an ELM is introduced as a dynamic single input, single output (SISO) linear model whose parameters as well as dynamic orders of input and output signals can change through ...

The complex and multidimensional nature of the coping construct has led to the compilation of different family of coping strategies (including emotion-focused, support seeking, etc.) which, although diverse in characteristics and influenced by cultural and dispositional factors, are highly correlated. To identify the nature of coping families in Iranian population, the present study examined th...
متن کاملA Multi-Formalism Modeling Framework: Formal Definitions, Model Composition and Solution Strategies
In this paper, we present a multi-formalism modeling framework (abbreviated by MFMF) for modeling and simulation. The proposed framework is defined based on the concepts of meta-models and uses object-orientation to overcome the complexities and to enhance the extensibility. The framework can be used as a basis for modeling by various formalisms and to support model composition in a unified man...

Background & Objective: About half of patients with mental disorders have personality disorders. Borderline personality disorder is one of the most severe and serious psychiatric disorders. Borderline personality disorder is the most common personality disorder and among the clinical population with personality disorder, this disorder is observed in 30% to 60% of cases. The term borderline was ...

In traditional DEA models, one faces the challenge of zero and unequal weights for evaluating each decision-making unit (DMU). On the other hand, for measuring the efficiency in these models, the system is considered as a black box, disregarding its internal processes. One of the strategies applied to deal with this problem is to use common weights of each input/output in all DMUs. In practice,...
